This beautiful, extra-long coin necklace has been created using a casting taken directly from a fourth century BC coin from the ancient Greek region of Akarnania. Akarnania was a colony of Corinth, an ancient city founded by Athena and Bellerophon riding the winged stallion, Pegasus. An inverted image of the goddess Athena features on the reverse of the coin. Both Athena and Pegasus were important symbols of wisdom in the ancient world.
Worn alone or layered with other pieces, this necklace is a little piece of ancient treasure.
